4 Variations on a Night Theme
四个变奏:为夜晚而作

2020 - 2021 “The picture of a road leading to a faraway cottage seems easy to interpret; yet the road makes full sense only to someone who has walked on it.” The experience of taking photos at night made me feel the pity of photography. When I once traveled through a mysterious tunnel, I was unable to document the experience with photos. This is the motivation for my project: to build multi-dimensional representations of original space using image transformation.

The project 4 Variations on a Night Theme explores the properties of photos in a 3D environment. This project utilizes images of the night as a motif for its variations, much like a musical variation. The scenes depicted in the project were created based on my own experiences or photographs. They try to evoke a personal experience for the audience by restoring the night scenes to their own complex state under the premise of being as realistic as possible.
